Pre-contractual information for networked products and connected services from Truma Gerätetechnik GmbH & Co. KG in accordance with the Data Act

Connected products and associated services from Truma Gerätetechnik GmbH & Co. KG (“Truma” or “we”) may generate data during use. Data within the meaning of the following information refers to raw data or pre-processed data, including relevant metadata, but not data that has been inferred or derived from this (i.e. further processed data).

The following information is intended for users of Truma’s connected products and associated services (“users” or “you”) as well as potential (future) users. It contains the pre-contractual information pursuant to Article 3(2) and (3) of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 December 2023 (“Data Act”).

Please read the following information carefully to find out, among other things, what data can be generated by Truma’s connected products and associated services, how this data is stored and how you, as a user of a connected product or associated service, can access this data.

1. Truma connected products and services

This information applies to all Truma connected products and services.

A Truma product is a “connected product” within the meaning of the Data Act if it generates or collects data about its use or environment and can transmit this product data, for example via the Internet. Connected products can be found in various product categories within Truma’s diverse product range. These include, for example

  • Heating systems (e.g. Combi, Combi D, CombiNeo, VarioHeat, Eezy)
  • Air conditioning systems (e.g. Aventa, Saphir)
  • Manoeuvring systems (e.g. Mover)
  • Compressor coolers (e.g. Cooler)
  • Gas supply (e.g. Truma LevelControl)
  • Energy supply and distribution (e.g. RVCore)
  • Control systems (e.g. iNet X System, Truma CP plus)

Truma offers selected services for some connected products that can be linked to these products and are required for certain product functions. These services are referred to as “connected services” within the meaning of the Act. These include, for example, smartphone apps such as the iNet X app, which enable control of the respective product.

2. Data generated during use

During active and inactive use of a connected product or connected service from Truma, data may be generated about the operation, use and performance of the product or service.

The type and scope of data generated during use varies considerably depending on the product type and model or service, software version, configuration and usage behaviour (e.g. which functions are used, frequency and duration of use).

Depending on the above factors, a connected Truma product or service may generate certain data from the following data types: Sensor data (e.g. ambient temperature, water temperature, fan speeds, available gas quantity, fill levels, cylinder type, other sensor measurements), operating status data (e.g. system status, operating system version, heating and cooling mode, fan speeds), configuration data (e.g. language settings), usage data (e.g. user inputs), diagnostic and error data, metadata (e.g. timestamps).

The estimated amount of data generated depends on the above factors and may be less than 32 kB per app session. The data can be generated in proprietary data formats, CBOR or JSON format.

3. Data available to Truma

Data generated by a connected Truma product or service and processed internally by the system is not transmitted to Truma.

Only if a connected product is linked to a connected service from Truma and there is a connection to a Truma server (e.g. via the mobile network) can some of the data listed above be transmitted to Truma servers (hereinafter referred to as “data available to Truma”). For example, if the Truma iNet X app is linked to an iNet X panel and, if applicable, other networked products from Truma, certain data may be transmitted to Truma servers via the Truma iNex X app. In some cases, however, only or predominantly derived data is transmitted to Truma servers, i.e. data that has already been further processed on the networked product and no longer falls within the scope of this Data Act information.

4. Real time and continuity of data generation, frequency of data collection

In general, a connected Truma product is capable of generating data continuously and in real time.

Data available to Truma can be collected each time the end device on which the connected Truma service is installed connects to the networked product and the respective Truma server (e.g. via the mobile network).

5. Data storage and storage period

Some connected Truma products, such as certain products in the compressor cooler category, are not capable of storing data on a device or server (permanently).

However, most Truma connected products are able to store data on the device (i.e. on an internal device memory). This data can be stored on the device indefinitely or for a specific period of time, for example to ensure internal system communication and the functionality, security and protection of the product and the software running on it. Certain data is automatically overwritten with current data during device operation and/or is not stored permanently.

If a connected Truma product is linked to a connected Truma service and there is a connection to a Truma server (e.g. via the mobile network), the product may also store certain data on a remote server. The storage period depends on the type of data and the purpose of processing and is determined in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations. 6. User access

Users of a connected Truma product or service may access or share the data available to Truma with third parties in accordance with the provisions of the Data Act. Data access is provided as follows:

  • Request for data access: Users can request access to the data available to Truma via an online form provided by Truma. Once the user has been successfully verified, the data will be Data information Truma │ 09.2026 Page2 of 4
    provided by email. The request for data access can be made via the website.
  • Truma account: A Truma account is required to access the data available to Truma and to verify the user’s request for data access. A Truma account can be created free of charge in the Truma iNet X app. The terms and conditions of Truma Gerätetechnik GmbH & Co. KG apply to the use of the Truma iNet X app, the Truma iNet X Cloud and the services provided via it, as well as the remote control service (“Terms of Use”), which can be accessed here: truma-terms-and-condition-inet-x-eu.pdf
  • Deletion of data: The user can delete the Truma account and the associated data at any time in the Truma iNet X app by selecting “Delete account” in the app settings and confirming the deletion. In addition, the user can submit a request for the deletion of personal data at any time using the contact details below. Further information on the deletion of personal data can be found in Truma’s applicable privacy policy.

 

The user’s access to the data available to Truma is limited to raw data and so-called pre-processed data, including the relevant metadata, in accordance with the provisions of the Data Act. Truma provides the data in JSON format by email to the email address specified by the user.

The data available to Truma may contain Truma’s trade secrets. In this case, access to the data may be restricted in accordance with the statutory provisions.

7. Use of data by Truma and third parties

Truma is the so-called data owner of the data available to Truma. Truma will process this data itself and share it with third parties, in each case for the purposes agreed with the user. The data will be used for the following purposes, among others:

  • Ensuring the functionality of the product and related services
  • Performing technical maintenance, troubleshooting, system updates, support, warranty services and similar services,
  • Improving the user experience and optimising product features,
  • fulfilling contracts with the user or third parties,
  • Developing new products and services,
  • Combining the data with other data and/or deriving information from this data for any lawful purpose, and
  • fulfilling legal obligations, particularly in the area of IT security and product liability.

 

The data available to Truma may be passed on to companies affiliated with Truma, in particular to:

In addition, the data may be processed by Truma’s processors within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR. Further information on Truma’s processors can be found in the applicable privacy policy.

8. Contract term and early termination

The respective Truma terms of use apply to the use of the connected services and the services provided through them.

Contracts for the use of connected services are generally concluded for an indefinite period, although a different contract term may apply to certain services (e.g. use of the remote control service).

The provisions governing the early termination of a contract for the use of a connected service from Truma are set out in the respective terms of use. As a rule, and unless otherwise specified, the user may terminate the contract at any time without giving reasons by sending an email to info@truma.com or by uninstalling the connected service and disconnecting the devices connected to this service. Truma may also terminate the contract at any time by sending an email. Both parties reserve the right to terminate the contract for good cause.

9. Right of appeal

Users have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent authority regarding a violation of a provision of Chapter II on the transfer of data from companies to consumers and between companies under the Data Act.
