Elkhart Company Hosts 6th Annual Spring Clean-up

Elkhart, IN – 04/21/2026 – Truma North America will host its 6th Annual Spring Clean-up on Saturday, April 25th at Woodlawn Nature Center in Elkhart. The event, which kicks off at 9 a.m., focuses on cleaning up the area and trails around the nature center, a discussion on “what Sustainability means,” and arts-and-crafts projects also focused on a sustainability theme.
“Sustainability is one of our four core values,” said Stacey Harris, Head of Service, Marketing and Retail Sales for Truma North America. “This event allows us to share the reasons behind that value while also giving back to the community that has supported us for the past 13 years.”
“We believe sustainability is about more than simply putting a recycling bin by the copy machine or a water cooler in the breakroom,” Harris said. “It is a conscious effort to make environmentally responsible choices at every possible opportunity.”
Truma North America’s headquarters in Elkhart receives power through solar energy and uses motion-activated lighting and geothermal heating and cooling to optimize energy use. The landscaping around the building features native plant species and is maintained with minimal pesticides.
“From a product standpoint, Truma systems are designed to be fuel-efficient as well.” Harris added. “The VarioHeat furnace has a combustion efficiency of 90 percent, which means that only 10 percent of the energy produced leaves the RV in the form of exhaust. We have also focused on single-fuel systems such as the Combi Gasoline and Combi Diesel in order to limit the fuel sources and consumption.”
For Truma, being environmentally responsible means upholding the company’s overall mission to help RV owners create memorable times outdoors. This mission is what led Truma’s partnership with the Elkhart Parks Department. Truma was the first corporate sponsor of Elkhart’s Adopt-a-Park program when it launched in 2023, adding Woodlawn Nature Center as its second adopted park in 2025.
“Over time, we have witnessed the impact our time has had on High Dive Park and Woodlawn Nature Center,” Harris said. “Our annual Spring Clean Up allows us the opportunity to give back to the community we call home. We assist in the removal of invasive plants, maintain park facilities, and provide educational opportunities through guest discussions and craft projects.”
Woodlawn Nature Center is on 10 acres of parkland, with walking trails and a natural history museum. Truma will assist with park maintenance projects such as cleaning up trash, preparing flower beds for spring, removing invasive species, and maintaining trails. This is just the beginning of the Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department’s long-term plan to breathe new life into this area.
“Woodlawn Nature Center has been a valuable community space for over 50 years. Many Elkhart residents have fond memories of spending time in the park with their families. Woodlawn is starting to show its age and, with Truma’s help, we plan to revitalize this space for families to enjoy now and for generations to come,” said Mandi Null, Volunteer Coordinator for Elkhart Parks and Recreation.
The Volunteer Program through the Elkhart Parks Department will supply a limited number of shovels, rakes, and other gardening tools, but please feel free to bring your own tools and work gloves from home. We also recommend wearing comfortable, durable footwear, work gloves, and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
This event is open to all, and we will have volunteer opportunities for all ages and skill levels. If you would like to volunteer, please call or text Mandi Null, Volunteer Coordinator at 574-350-1817.
