Picture this: you are in the middle of a camping trip and notice your Truma AquaGo control dial is slowly blinking an amber-colored light. This means your water heater has been set to “Clean” mode. Turning the analog control dial to “Clean” tells your AquaGo that you want to perform a routine decalcification process on the system. If you are, in fact, about to decalcify your AquaGo, great! But if not… well, you have found yourself “Stuck in Clean Mode.”
This can happen by accident very easily, especially if the dial is installed somewhere you might have bumped it without noticing, or you travel with kids or pets.
If you’ve just accidentally turned the dial to the wrong setting and turned it back to “ECO” or “Comfort” mode within 30 seconds, you should be able to operate your AquaGo as usual.
If you missed that 30-second window and find yourself truly stuck, don’t worry—you aren’t the only one! In fact, this is one of the most common troubleshooting calls our Customer Care team receives.
Just follow these steps to bypass the decalcification process and resume using your Truma AquaGo water heater:
1. The Truma AquaGo must have power from the main panel.
2. The outside toggle switch on the AquaGo needs to be in the “On” position.
3. Turn the analog dial to “Clean” mode (this is the bottom position on the dial)
4. Wait until you hear the circulation pump cycle on and off. You may need to “wake up” the dial by turning it on and off a couple of times until you hear the circulation pump cycling.
5. Open a hot water faucet and let the water run until the amber light on the analog dial stops flashing. This could take 15 minutes or more. During this time, you will hear the circulation pump turning off and on intermittently. This is normal and the burner will not ignite.
6. Once the flush cycle is complete, the green LED above the toggle switch on the outside of the AquaGo will go off. You will see a red LED light below the toggle switch that indicates a fault code. You will see the light flash a series of short and long flashes in this sequence: (S,S,S,L,L,L,L,L). This is fault code 31: “Decalcification Complete.”
7. Turn the toggle switch on the AquaGo to the “off” position.
8. Go inside and turn the analog dial to the “off” position and wait 30 seconds.
9. Turn the toggle switch on the AquaGo back on. You should see a solid green light above the toggle switch.
10. Turn the analog dial to the “ECO” or “Comfort” mode. You may need to “wake up” the dial by slowly turning it on and off a couple of times. The unit should work normally at this time.
