Tech Tip: Truma Combi Error Codes

Truma Combi error code testing

The Truma Combi is a reliable two-in-one furnace and water heater, and when all goes according to plan, you should enjoy heat and hot water from one space-saving appliance. But as all RVers know, sometimes things just don’t go according to plan!

When that happens, we want you to be prepared. First, we always recommend reading your owner’s manuals when you buy a new (or new-to-you) RV. All Truma system manuals include a list of error codes to help you troubleshoot if the system is not working properly.

Here are some of the most common error codes you might see on your Truma Combi, what they mean, and how to get your furnace and water heater back up and running!

  • W 17 H (Hot water mode with empty water container)
    • What it means: This error occurs when the Truma Combi is put in hot water mode while the water tank is empty.
    • How to Troubleshoot: Turn off the Truma Combi and allow it to cool completely. Then, fill the water tank and turn the system back on.
  • W 18 H (Warm-air outlet blocked/Circulated air intake blocked)
    • What it means: This error occurs when the circulated air intake or the warm air outlet is blocked.
    • How to Troubleshoot: Check all outlet and intake openings and clear any blockages.
  • E 43 H (excess voltage > 16.4 V)
    • What it means: This error occurs when the battery voltage exceeds 16.4 volts.
    • How to Troubleshoot: Check the battery voltage and power sources like the battery charger.
  • E 44 H (undervoltage, battery voltage too low < 10.0 V)
    • What it means: This error occurs when the battery voltage falls below 10 volts.
    • How to Troubleshoot: First, try charging the battery. If the battery is old or otherwise unable to hold a charge, it may need replaced.
  • W 45 H (No 120 V AC supply voltage/Overheating protection has responded) eco plus and comfort plus models only
    • What it means: This error will only occur on the Truma Combi eco plus or comfort plus models. It can mean one of two things, either the Combi does not have 120 volt AC supply voltage or the Overheating protection has responded.
    • How to Troubleshoot: First, check your 120 volt AC connection and power supply. If you have confirmed or restored the AC power supply and the error does not clear, please contact our Customer Care team for further troubleshooting.
  • E 112 H, E 202 H, E 211 H (Gas cylinder closed/gas shut-off valve closed/ overheating protection responded)
    • What it means: If the Truma Combi displays any of these error codes, it could mean either the system is not getting fuel or Overheating protection has responded.
    • How to Troubleshoot: First, check the gas supply and make sure the propane cylinder is open. Next, check the gas shut-off valve and make sure it is open or in the „on“ position. If the error persists, turn off the Combi and allow it to cool completely. Fill the water tank with cold water. Check warm air outlets and circulated air intakes and remove any blockages. Then turn the Combi back on.
  • E 212 H (Combustion air infeed or exhaust gas outlet closed/ gas shut-off valve is closed/gas pressure regulation system defective/overheating protection responded/electronics defective)
    • What it means: This error code indicates the Truma Combi isn’t getting air, fuel, or power. Either because the Combustion air infeed or exhaust outlet is closed, the gas shut-off valve is closed, the system has entered overheating protection, or the electronics board is defective.
    • How to Troubleshoot: First, check for obstructions in the air infeed/exhaust outlet on the outside of the RV. Then, make sure the gas shut-off valve is open or in the „on“ position. . If the error persists, turn off the Combi and allow it to cool completely. Fill the water tank with cold water. Check warm air outlets and circulated air intakes and remove any blockages. Then turn the Combi back on. If the error still does not clear, it may be an issue with the system electronics.
