Guest Blog: Holiday Gift Ideas for RVers

truma-banner-blog-airstreamvagabond-2560x1440-us

You’re here because you have the unique opportunity to buy a gift for someone who quite literally has everything that they need. They have potentially decided to downsize and buy an RV. Maybe, like us, they have sold almost everything they owned, keeping only the things that they considered necessary, and now live in roughly 300 square feet of living space. Everything is small, lightweight, and has a purpose. Speaking as a full-time RVer, if we are lucky that item actually serves multiple purposes to save extra space! (Think microwave. Its first use is obvious, but when not in use it doubles as storage).

We have structured this gift guide to keep these points in mind but also, some of these items are just fun to have! We also added some price points so you can jump right gifts that fit your budget.

$30 or Less

VAEHOLD Metal Hooks with Adhesive – $16

Adhesive hooks are mandatory in the RV world because drilling into walls is usually not an option. These hooks come in a pack of four, have adhesive backs, and have a timeless modern look. They can easily be removed and relocated if desired and mounted in a vertical or horizontal position.

WHOOSH! Screen Cleaner – $18

We use this screen cleaner on every electronic device we own and our sunglasses. It’s safe to use on Apple products and works miracles fighting against stubborn fingerprints.

National Geographic Road Atlas 2025: Adventure Edition – $26

This paper road atlas covers the United States, Canada, and Mexico and is great for planning your journey or just following along your decided route. We have discovered so many stops and roadside attractions that are marked in the atlas that we wouldn’t have otherwise discovered. It’s about the Journey, not about the destination – this is an absolutely invaluable asset that we have used since day one.

$60 or Less

Zero G Hose – $32

If you are going to buy this hose, we recommend buying two: One for any freshwater filling or city water connections and the other reserved for flushing your tanks. This will prevent any cross contamination in case of back flow. We recommend a 50-foot hose for fresh water and a 25-foot hose for the dirty jobs. Why Zero G? They collapse and pack away small.

Good Sam Membership – $39

If your RVer enjoys traveling and stays in RV parks for less than a week at a time, then this is a great option. Good Sam is honored by most RV parks across the country and provides 10% off the stay. If they are there for longer than a week then the weekly or monthly rate is usually as good or better than this discount. It can also get you a discount at Camping World locations.

Anker Power Bank, 20,000mAh – $48

Extra power banks really come in handy especially when we are disconnected from shore power. We keep ours in our travel bags and use them on the go when we need juice but don’t want to be tethered to a wall. This one has a built-in USB-C cable, which can charge all of our devices.

You would be surprised how many times we use headlamps. We look for rechargeable USB C lamps to minimize the number of different charging cables that we carry on board. These are BRIGHT and have multiple uses beyond a headlamp as well in case you want to carry them by hand or use the magnetic mount options when you’re working and need to be hands-free. Our only downside is that there is no red-light choice, so if you’re buying for a photographer who loves Astro photography, that is something to keep in mind.

$100 or Less

Harvest Host Membership – $99

If your RVer enjoys quick overnights in different adventurous spots, then this is a cool option. With places like breweries, wineries, bee farms, and lavender farms highlighted, this membership is a great way to see unique campsites on the way to your next destination.

America the Beautiful National Parks Membership – $80

This gives you full access to the national parks system across the US and US territories. We have purchased one of these in either the US or Canada every year since we have been on the road. Basically, if you plan on spending more than 3 days in a national park during the year, this membership pays for itself. (Unless of course, the national park is already free.)

Vortex Optics Copperhead HD Binoculars – $85

All Vortex binoculars are backed by a VIP guarantee and ours get used constantly throughout the year. We keep them stored in our truck for easy access. We have the Diamondback model, which is one level up from this version. Any binoculars will give you superhuman vision, but you will get a clearer image quality at greater magnification with more expensive models.

Price isn’t a concern, let’s just make it an EPIC gift!

Solar Generator – $1,000

There are a ton of solar generators out there. But what is it? It’s basically a lithium battery with a charge controller and inverter built in. Meaning you can charge it via solar or home outlet and it will output either AC or DC power to keep devices charged or temporarily run household appliances or larger electrical items. We love our Wagan Lithium Cube 1200, and we use it every time we are boondocking (camping without water, sewer, or electric connections). Don’t let the price intimidate you, smaller versions are available. We knew that we wanted to be able to power our Truma Cooler for at least 5 days at a time with minimal solar charge to the solar generator. We decided to go big, so we didn’t have to go home.

Magma Nesting Pots – $259

This 10-piece set of nesting pots was made for boats and can endure salt water. We had other lightweight camping pots, but they weren’t meant for continued daily use, so we switched to these. The Magma set packs down once all nested together and comes in traditional stainless steel and silver finish or nonstick with a variety of color finishes. All of them can be used with induction, gas, or electric cook tops.

This is hands down the item on this list that we never knew we needed. It holds over 50 cans of your beverage of choice which saves a lot of space in your already small RV fridge. Plus, we never have to buy ice! Not only can this portable fridge/freezer keep drinks cold, but it can also be used as a freezer. In fact, on our recent trip to Alaska, we transported over 40 pounds of fish 5,000 miles back to Florida for winter. If you use code ASVCOOL10 at checkout on Amazon, you will save a little more!

All this being said, traditional gifts such as books and games are always welcomed and appreciated. Just know that they may end up being a single-use item and donated to a charitable cause, passed onto a little library, or exchanged with a fellow traveler once the gift is enjoyed. Traditional gift cards to things to do around cities or experiences across the country are always nice as well. Whatever you choose to give, include a handwritten note for an extra special touch.
