In a brand new blog feature, Truma will be asking RV industry experts and enthusiasts for their best tips, tricks, and tales from the campground. For our first round of Truma Q + A, we got up with Chris Bienert, the Product Manager for the Class B division at Winnebago, while we were down at the Florida RV SuperShow.
Q: What Truma Systems do you use, and how do they improve the camping experience?
A: We use Truma Combi and VarioHeat systems in Winnebago camper vans. Their efficiency and quiet heat really enhance the winter #vanlife experience! You can get a great night‘s sleep with either one because they’re so quiet. There’s nothing like waking up in a warm van to fresh snowfall outside!
Q: What is your must-bring item for cold-weather camping?
A: Bring some recovery gear, just in case. Chains, a tow strap, a shovel, or a set of Maxtrax can be just the thing to get you out of a sticky/slippery situation! The shovel is helpful for clearing out a snow-filled sitting space outdoors. Yes, campfires work in winter too!
Q: Where’s your favorite cold-weather camping spot?
A: I have a soft spot for Tettegouche State Park in Minnesota. It’s right on the north shore of Lake Superior, with miles of trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The best part is going down near the shore at first light. The sunrise shines through the ice on the trees for a light show like none other.
