Replacing the Therme container

Installation situation and terms

(1) Therme
(2) Warm air ducts
(3) Electrical connection
(4) Drain valve

(6) Water tank with pump
(7) Cold water connection
(8) Hot water connection

Steps to replace the container 1

Dismantle the Truma Therme as follows:

  • Disconnect the electrical connection from the heating element (1). CAUTION: 230 V~!
  • Drain the water from the water system and make sure that no water can be pumped (switch off the water pump).
  • Disconnect the four water connections (2) from the Therme.
  • Disconnect the warm air ducts (3).
  • Undo the screws (4) that fix the Truma Therme to the floor.

Steps to replace the container 2

  • Remove the Therme from its installation location.
  • Remove the two insulation halves (1). These are simply clicked together.
  • Remove the two screws (2) from the heating element and remove the heating element (3).

The old O-ring from the heating element is not reused and can be disposed of.

Steps to replace the container 3

  • Make a mark (3) on a stiffening ring (1) of the aluminium heating pipe (2) with a felt tip pen, for example. Also make a mark on the same end of the aluminium heating pipe at the same position.

This shows the position of the two stiffening rings on the respective pipe ends and makes it easier to find the original position of the holes when you are reassembling the Therme.

  • Remove the two screws on the stiffening ring and remove the stiffening ring (1). Do the same on the other side, but without marks.

Steps to replace the container 4

The aluminium heating pipe (1) has an olive green, food-safe coating that protects the pipe against corrosion. During assembly, make sure that this coating is not damaged.

  • Pull and/or push the aluminium heating pipe out of the old container.

The old O-rings (2) are not reused and can be disposed of.

Steps to replace the container 5

  • Mix some washing-up liquid with water in a separate container.
  • Take the new container (1) and apply some washing-up liquid mixture to the inside of the two openings (2) for the aluminium heating pipe (3). This makes it easier to slide the aluminium heating pipe into the openings.
  • Slide the aluminium heating pipe from one side through the two openings so that it is in the centre. The aluminium heating pipe should protrude equally from both sides of the Therme. It may be difficult to slide the pipe into the openings.

Steps to replace the container 6

  • Apply washing-up liquid mixture to the two new O-rings (1) and slide the O-ring over the protruding aluminium heating pipe.
  • With your fingers, press the O-ring into the gap between the aluminium heating pipe and the stiffening ring. So as not to damage the O-ring or the coating, do NOT use a sharp object.

The O-ring is pressed into the gap between the container and the aluminium heating pipe later to seal the Therme. Do NOT place the O-ring in the groove of the stiffening ring (2).

  • Do the same on the other side of the Therme.

Steps to replace the container 7

  • Place the marked stiffening ring (1) on to the aluminium heating pipe.
  • Turn the stiffening ring on the aluminium heating pipe until the holes of the ring and pipe fit together.
  • Fix the stiffening ring to the aluminium heating pipe with the two screws.
  • Do the same on the other side of the Therme.

Steps to replace the container 8

  • Slide the smaller new O-ring (1) over the heating element (2).
  • Insert the heating element (2) into the respective opening in the container of the Truma Therme and fix it in place with two screws.
  • Replace the two insulation halves on the Therme container and click them together.

Steps to replace the container 9

  • Always replace the drain valve (2) and the aeration valve (1) with the new ones that are supplied.

You may have to enlarge the holes in the base for the drain and aeration valves from 8.5 mm to 11 mm.
