With output of 250 W it is the only fuel cell that has been specially developed for the caravan and motor home market, e.g. for optimum charging of standard batteries. The battery is recharged automatically. Rather than
using methanol, the fuel cell operates using the popular LPG fuel (propane/butane). LPG is an extremely environmentally friendly source of energy that is available from DIY stores etc. and from any campsite.
The VeGA fuel cell consumes approximately 90 grams of gas per hour. Approximately 30 kWh of electricity can be generated with the contents of an 11 kg cylinder, provided that the fuel cell is the only gas consumer. This would allow you to enjoy your holiday away from the campsite for a considerable time without a care in the world, independently of the power supply. Of course, the duration depends on the gas consumption levels of each individual camper.
The VeGA fuel cell is still at the product study stage, but it will be ready for series production by the time the doors open at Caravan Salon, and a small production run will be available from the beginning of 2008.
