It has been permissible to install LPG systems with an operating pressure of 30 or 50 mbar in vehicles in Germany since March 1996. European standard EN 1949 of July 2002 stipulates that the operating pressure of LPG systems in road vehicles throughout Europe must be 30 mbar. In other words: a 50 mbar device in an older vehicle can now be replaced with a gas device with an operating pressure of 30 mbar.
A prerequisite for operating at both pressures is the use of an equipment admission pressure controller. The new VDR 50/30 equipment admission pressure controller from Truma reduces the operating pressure from 50 mbar to 30 mbar so that all consumers, be they old or new, can be operated in combination with each other.
Compared to the usual controllers that are available from retailers, the new gas equipment admission pressure controller from Truma is unrestrictedly approved for all gas equipment such as refrigerators, cookers, ovens, heaters and hot water units with consumption of 15 – 800 g.
The integrated bypass aperture even allows the 2-yearly gas leak check to be carried out by a gas expert. The VDR 50/30 equipment admission pressure controller does not have to be unscrewed to do this.
The new controller complies with gas equipment directive 90/396/EEC in conjunction with the permitted standards and is simply inserted into an existing gas pipe between the shut-off valve and the 30 mbar gas device that is being supplied.
The VDR 50/30 equipment admission pressure controller has been available from specialist retailers since May 2006.
