Do you need to replace the heat exchanger in a Truma liquid gas heater every 10 years?
No. The requirement for replacing heat exchangers has been extended from 10 years to 30 years for all relevant Truma devices. Heat exchangers in Truma heaters are not subject to any wear and do not pose any risk to safety, even after many years of intensive use.
According to §22a of the StVZO (German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations), TA (technical requirement) no. 27, the heat exchangers and exhaust ducts in warm air heaters must be replaced with original parts ten years after first being put into operation (if these heat exchangers and ducts are routed through living areas that are used by persons). This regulation applies to all fuel heaters, for example.

Is it possible to operate a Truma heater even whilst driving?
Yes. With Combi and Trumatic E heaters, the heating function can be used without a problem whilst driving.
In the case of Trumatic S heaters, however, the heating function can only be used together with a cowl top, which must be installed freely in the air flow. Truma recommends cowl top T3 or cowl tops T1 and T2. Otherwise, the flame may burn back and cause damage to the heater.
Additionally, the cowl top must protrude at least 10 cm beyond any additional roof accessories (roof boxes, ski racks, luggage racks, etc.) so that the heater can function without problems.

Do Truma liquid gas heaters require servicing?
No. Truma gas heaters are maintenance-free. However, before colder seasons we recommend removing any dust from the heat exchanger and fan wheel blades (using a brush, vacuum cleaner, etc.), if the heater has a fan.
If your heater features an auto ignitor, we recommend replacing the batteries every two years or when the ignition frequency becomes slower. Make sure to use only leak-proof battery types.

What is the correct way to install the exhaust duct, and what do you need to bear in mind when it comes to exhaust ducting?
Exhaust ducts must always be installed so that they are rising up to the cowl. If the exhaust emissions from your Trumatic S are still being conveyed via an aluminium duct, it is essential that you replace this with a stainless steel duct.
If you remove the cover from your heater, you will see a short piece of exhaust duct. If the exhaust duct has a winding, it is made from stainless steel. If it does not have a winding - only small grooves - this means it is an aluminium duct and needs to be replaced. Please note that the duct may only be replaced by a specialist (such as a Truma service technician).

What is the cause of a temperature increase in the wardrobe?
High temperatures may be caused by a warm air distribution system that has not been installed to maximum effect, insufficient ventilation in the wardrobe, or closed warm air lines, among other things. They could also be the result of a heater that does not feature a fan.
Whatever the case, however, increased temperatures in the wardrobe and at the exhaust duct do not pose a risk of fire.

What do I need to check if there is a drop in the air output of the Trumatic S fan?
We recommend cleaning the fan wheel from time to time. Use either a brush with stiff bristles or compressed air to clean the blades. To prevent the warm air ducts and vehicle getting dirty, you should remove the fan in order to clean it. Spraying the fan wheel with cockpit spray following this will increase the cleaning intervals required.

Combi models: Is it possible to completely close a warm air outlet or warm air line in the case of the Combi (E)?
Warm air outlets or warm air lines must not be closed under any circumstances with the Combi 6 (E), to prevent heat accumulation.
With the Combi 4 (E), no more than one warm air outlet or warm air line may be closed completely. However, in all cases it is better to use all four warm air outlets.
Individual outlets in the same duct may only be closed if T or Y-pieces are being used and the heat is being conveyed to another warm air outlet that is open.

How long does it take for water to heat up in the Combi?
If only water is being heated up (during summer operation), a temperature of 60 degrees is reached after around 20 minutes.
If the living area is being heated and the boiler is being operated (during winter operation), a water temperature of 60 degrees is reached after around 80 minutes.
It is possible to heat up the water in electrical operation alone (i.e. entirely without gas). The heating time in electrical operation is around 45 minutes.

In summer, is it possible to just heat up water without heating up the living area too?
Yes - simply set the switch to summer operation and select a water temperature of 40 or 60 degrees. When the yellow LED on the control panel goes out, this means the desired water temperature has been reached.

Is it possible to use the Combi heating function without water?
Of course. The Combi water tank can be heated up even without water.
Why does the D.C. motor continue to run after the heater has been switched off?
This function protects the device against the possibility of overheating, which may occur as a result of heat accumulation. While it is running after the heater has been switched off, the D.C. motor emits any heat that may have been accumulated into the interior of the vehicle. Remember that it will continue to run each time the heater is switched off - even if the heater has only been used for a very short time. It’s also important to remember that you cannot deactivate this function.
Does my Combi water tank need to be descaled or sterilised?
The water tank should be descaled from time to time.
Citric acid must be used for this purpose. This can be fed into the device via the water inlet. Leave it time to take effect and then rinse out the Combi thoroughly with fresh water.
For sterilisation and decalfying purposes, we recommend the Truma AquaStar cleaning and preservation system.
Please do not use the water from the Combi as drinking water.
Is a Combi D 6 E also available?
No. This version is not currently available as part of the Truma product range.
Is it possible to retrofit both heating elements in a standard version of the Combi 4/6?
No. The heating elements are permanently integrated into the Combi heat exchanger. Heat exchangers are not designed for heating element retrofitting.

Is it possible to completely close a warm air outlet or warm air line in the case of the Trumatic C?
Warm air outlets or warm air lines must not be closed completely under any circumstances with the Trumatic C 6002.
With the Trumatic C 3402, no more than one warm air outlet or warm air line may be closed completely. However, in all cases it is better to use all four warm air outlets.

If the boiler has been filled, the “heating without controlled water temperature” setting on the control panel automatically heats up the water too when it is activated. In this case, the water temperature is dependent on the heat output and length of time it takes for the heating function to reach the desired room temperature.
Can I connect the new control panel (05/02 or later) to my “old” Trumatic C?
Yes, although this is only possible with Trumatic C series 2 (06/97 or later).
The new control panel has a modern design and features an additional function. It has a switch setting that is designed for operating the heating function without the boiler having been filled.
This means that the water is automatically heated up too when the boiler is filled. In this case, the water temperature is dependent on the heat output and length of time it takes for the device to heat up the room. This function allows you to have heated water but only consume a small amount of gas.

No. Approval has not been obtained for this, since the heating elements (1800 W) provide sufficient electrical heat output for warming up the water.

No. The heating elements are permanently integrated into the Trumatic C 6002 EH heat exchanger. The Trumatic C 6002 heat exchanger is not designed for heating element retrofitting.
Can the Trumatic C 6002 EH be operated without water?
Yes. Operation without water is possible without restrictions in this case, just as with all versions of Trumatic C heaters.

Is it possible to retrofit both Trumatic C 6002 EH heating elements in a standard version of the Trumatic C 4002?
No. The heating elements are permanently integrated into the Trumatic C 6002 EH heat exchanger. The Trumatic C 4002 heat exchanger is not designed for heating element retrofitting.
What is the difference between the Trumatic C 3402 and Trumatic C 4002?
The Trumatic C 4002 provides over 600 watts more heat output and is equipped with a more powerful D.C. motor for distributing the warm air.
How many warm air outlets need to be used out of the four that are provided?
At least three of the outlets need to be connected to the warm air distribution system in order to protect the device against overheating. To achieve optimum and efficient distribution of the warm air, however, all 4 outlets should be connected.
